Welcome to Bath!

We went to Bath today. In pop culture terms, Bath is the one-time home of Jane Austen and is oft-referenced in such period films as Emma. In historic terms, Bath was once the fashion mecca of the UK and is the site of the Roman Baths.

Bath is also GORGEOUS. It also helped that it was just another beautiful day.

Quick side note ... Louis decided to take full ownership over this part of our trip, and was to do all the planning and booking with the trip.

As we got off the train, we had the following exchange:

Christina: Yay, we're here! So now where do we go?

Louis: What do you mean?

Christina: Well, where do we go? What should we hit?

Louis: I don't know. I just thought we'd get here and there'd be like four buildings and a Roman bath right here.

Instead we saw this....

So we started walking.....

Bath seems like such a serene hilly town that it would be impossible to get lost in. There was a fair mix of sidewalk cafes and antique furniture stores, but there were also flashy technology stores and a Dominoes pizza mixed in. The storefronts were all uniform and retained the old-world charm.

We walked past the storefronts to some of the neighborhoods, specifically Henrietta Villas. We tried to look into some of the houses, and it surprised me how old the furnishings were, and how old the walls were, and how uncomfortable some of the Victorian furniture looked ... Right out of a Jane Austen-based film.

This picture must have have been important to Louis since he singled it out.

We eventually made it to the famous Roman Baths... More about that to come later!

Henrietta Villas, you say?! Just can't get away from the two HENRIETTA'S in your life (Grandma and Ma); have Louis explain...
